Angeology - Names of Important Archangels


Michael — “Who is like unto God?” Daniel.10:13; 12:1; Jude v. 9; Revelation. 12:7-8. Michael means "Who is like God?" Other spellings of Michael's name include Mikhael, Mikael, Mikail, and Mikhail.  The protector in battle, protection against all darkness and demons.  Michael is known for his exceptional strength and courage. He’s a leader who reigns as the head of all the angels. Michael fights for good to prevail over evil. He protects and defends people who love God. People sometimes ask for Michael's help to: gain the courage they need to overcome their fears, obtain strength to resist temptations to sin and instead do what's right, and stay safe in dangerous situations.
Gabriel — “The Powerful or Strong Man of God,” “The Power or Strength of God” Daniel.8:16;9:21; Luke1:19-26. Also called Djibril or Jibril.  The Messenger.  Gabriel is also known as the angel of revelation. God often chooses Gabriel to communicate important messages. People sometimes ask for Gabriel's help to: clear away confusion and achieve the wisdom they need to make decisions, obtain the confidence they need to act on those decisions, communicate effectively to other people, and raise children well.
Raphael — “The Healing of God” Tobit3:17;12:15. Also called Israfel, Rafael, Repha'el, Israfel, Israfil, and Sarafiel. The Healer.  The Angel of Healing & Compassion. He iss also known to drive away Demons.  Raphael helps to heal physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual afflictions in nature.  He also assists with addictions. He works to bring people closer to God for inner Peace.
Uriel — “The Light or Fire of God” A.V. II Esdras 4:1. Uriel means “God is my light.” Other spellings of his name include Usiel, Uzziel, Oriel, Auriel, Suriel, Urian, and Uryan..  Also called Sariel, Suriel, or Muriel.  Wisdom & Power.  Uriel is known as the angel of wisdom. He shines the light of God’s truth into the darkness of confusion. People sometimes ask for Uriel’s help to: seek God’s will before making decisions, come up with fresh creative ideas, learn new information, solve problems, resolve conflicts, let go of destructive emotions such as anxiety and anger that can prevent them from discerning wisdom, and recognize dangerous situations so they can try to avoid them.
Selaphiel —  “The Command, Communicant or Prayer of God”, since command and prayer represent the two forms, or types, of communication: the first one being descendant and the second ascendant. Also called Salathiel, Selathiel, Seraphiel, Sarakiel, Saraqael, Zarachiel, Zerachiel, or Zachariel.  Selaphiel means “the prayer of God” or “one who prays to God.” Other spellings include Selapheal, Salathiel, Selathiel, Sealteal, Seraphiel, Sarakiel, Sariel, Suriel, Suriyel, and Saraqael. Jehudiel — “The Glory, Laudation or Praise of God.” Also called Jegudiel or Gudiel. Jehudiel means "one who glorifies God." Other spellings of Jehudiel's name include Jegudiel, Jhudiel, Judiel, and Gudiel.  Jehudiel is known as the angel of work. He gives encouragement, wisdom, and strength to people who work for God's glory -- especially those in positions of power and leadership who want to honor God while carrying out his or her job responsibilities. Other spellings include Barchiel, Baraqiel, Barkiel, Barbiel, Barakel, Baraqel, Pachriel, and Varachiel.  Barachiel is known as the angel of blessings. He intercedes in prayer before God for people in need, asking God to give them blessings in all areas of their lives -- from their relationships with family and friends to their work.  Chamuel — (who is also often known as Kamael) means "One who seeks God." Other spellings include Camel, Camiel, Camniel, Kamuel, Kemuel, Khamael, Samael, and Shamael.  Chamuel is known as the angel of love and peaceful relationships.
Raguel — “The Friend of God.” Also called Raziel, which means “The Secrets of God.” Not to be confused with Raphael.  Raguel is known as the angel of justice and harmony. He works for God's will to be done among people, and also among his fellow angels andarchangels.  Raguel wants you to experience the best life possible -- the life God wants for you.
Jeremiel — “The Compassion, Exaltation or Mercy of God” R.V. II Esdras4:36. Also called Jeramiel, Jerahmiel, Jerehmiel, Ramiel, or Remiel.  Jeremiel is known as the angel of hopeful visions and dreams.  He communicates hopeful messages from God to people who are discouraged or troubled. People sometimes ask for Jeremiel's help to: evaluate their lives and figure out what God would like them to change to better fulfill his purposes for their lives, learn from their mistakes, seek new direction, solve problems, pursue healing, and find encouragement & balance.  Jeremiel is the angel who “presides over true visions.  Jeremiel also serves as an angel of death who escorts people's souls from Earth to heaven, and once in heaven, helps them review their earthly lives and learn from what they've experienced
Anael or Haniel — “The Grace or Joy of God.” Also called Aniel, Hanael, or Haniel.  f you’ve become frustrated and disappointed looking for happiness and coming up short, you can turn to Haniel to develop the kind of relationship with God that will bless you with a truly enjoyable life, no matter what circumstances you may encounter.
Jophiel — “The Beauty of God.” Also called Orifiel, Jouphiel, Zouphiel, Zophiel, Zophkiel, Zaphiel, Zaphkiel, Kaphziel, Cassiel, or Kepharel. Beauty and Light.  Assists Michael in Battles against Evil.  Guards the Tree of Knowledge.
Zadkiel — “The Justice, Righteousness or Uprightness of God.” Also called Sachiel, Tzadkiel, Zadakiel, Zedekiel, or Zedekul.  Assists Michael in battles against Evil.  Angel of Mercy & Forgiveness.  Helps heal emotional wounds & repair relationships.
Lucifer / Satan — “The Light-Bearer” or “The Morning-Star” Isaiah 14:12; “The Enemy” Jude 1:9, Revelation 12:9. Other names for this fallen archangel (or his companions) are: Azael, Azazel, Azrael, Izrael, Izreel, or Uzziel; Camael, Camiel, Camniel, Cancel, Chamuel, Kemuel, Samael, Shemuel, Simiel, or Zamael; Samiaza; Satanael.
